PAULA GETS REAL RESULTS FOR EAST DALLAS!

Results, not rhetoric.

Dallas City Council Member Paula Blackmon focuses on solving real problems that will have an impact on improving the quality of life for every Dallas resident. Throughout her career in public service, she has proven the adage that actions speak louder than words. Paula was recently reelected with 80% of the vote because of her long, proven record of placing policy ahead of politics, and she continues to serve with that goal knowing that it is results that matter most.

Dallas Fentanyl Strike Force

The Fentanyl Strike Force has helped reinstitute a strong working relationship between the city and Dallas County. In addition to securing funding that will put more Narcan (a drug that reverses opioid overdoses) in Dallas Police Department patrols and the purchase of equipment that can detect Fentanyl in confiscated drugs, the Task Force also got the city to join the national Overdose Detection Mapping Application Program that can alert officials to overdosing hotspots.

Taking the Opioid Fight to Austin

The Texas Legislature wrapped up its 88th regular session with some real successes for Dallas residents. Paula spent a great deal of time this session in Austin advocating for needed policy changes to address the quickly spreading killer Fentanyl epidemic as co-chair of Dallas’ Fentanyl Strike Force. Instead of working in individual silos without communication and cooperation, Paula has successfully advocated for coordinated plans and data sharing among different levels of local, county and state governments in addition to nongovernmental support agencies in a new effort to stem what has become record setting opioid drug overdose deaths.
